Excellent Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices acknowledged by leading global indexes

Tokyo –July 4, 2019 – Toppan Printing (Toppan) (TSE:7911), a global leader in communication, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, has been selected for the second consecutive year in the FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Blossom Japan Index.  The company has also been included in the MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes and MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN) for two years in a row.

Continued selection in these indexes adds to Toppan’s inclusion in several other leading ESG investment indexes, including the DJSI World Index and the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index. It also means that Toppan features on three ESG investment-related indexes selected and used by Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), one of the world’s largest pension administrators.

Toppan aligns its activities with the United Nations Global Compact, the Sustainable Development Goals and the core subjects set out by ISO 26000. The company has identified healthcare, education, urban space, energy, and food resources, among others, as fields in which it can address the challenges faced by society and contribute to sustainable growth.

“Inclusion in the FTSE and MSCI indexes demonstrates Toppan’s commitment to continuous improvement of ESG performance and the promotion of gender diversity,” said Shikiko Kasahara, General Manager of Sustainability Promotion at Toppan. “We believe that it is vital to work with all stakeholders to create long-term value for a sustainable society by fully addressing environmental, social, and governance issues and incorporating solutions to them into our business practices as well as the products and services we offer.”
