New PE- and BOPP-based high barrier films for monomaterial packaging, the latest in the GL FILM range, and cutting-edge solutions from Japan

Griffin, Georgia and Tokyo –September 19, 2019 – Toppan USA, Inc. (Toppan USA), a subsidiary of Toppan Printing (Toppan) (TSE:7911), a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, will be showcasing its latest sustainable barrier film solutions and providing a presentation by one of its leading sales engineers at PACK EXPO Las Vegas (https://www.packexpolasvegas.com/) from September 23 through 25.

The Toppan booth (South Lower Hall: #LS6838) will present a wide range of solutions, including new PE-based and BOPP-based transparent high barrier films. The films are ideal for monomaterial packaging and provide outstanding recyclability. They have been made possible by Toppan’s original coating and deposition technologies and enable a breakthrough in the recyclability of flexible packaging. The new PE-based barrier film, for example, has the capability to enable packaging that aligns with the recent establishment of PE recycling systems in the United States, thus contributing to improved circulation of plastic resources.

Toppan USA will also be demonstrating the diverse grades and applications of GL FILM, the world’s leading transparent high barrier film, introducing visitors to some of the latest packaging solutions from its parent company in Japan, and showing how they can be applied in markets around the world. Co-packaging solutions will also be on show from Pouchfill Packaging, a Florida-based Toppan USA subsidiary operated in collaboration with Mitsui Plastics.

Shukiko Tanaka, Sales Engineer at Toppan USA

Toppan USA Sales Engineer Shukiko Tanaka will give a 30-minute presentation on Toppan’s latest sustainable film solutions on Innovation Stage 3 (C-1041) at 12:00 p.m. on September 23. She will explain how the challenges presented by today’s non-recyclable multi-material laminate flexible packaging can be addressed by enhancing oxygen and moisture barrier performance for monomaterial packaging, which has the potential to revolutionize sustainability.

“We are delighted to be at PACK EXPO again this year,” said Masa Tatewaki, Toppan USA’s President & CEO. “The potential breakthrough in recyclable packaging enabled by PE and BOPP monomaterial films is very exciting and creates the possibility of flexible packaging with outstanding barrier performance that can be recycled through store-drop-off programs in the future. We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Toppan booth to show them how our solutions can meet their needs.”

Toppan USA’s booth at PACK EXPO will be located at #LS6838 in the South Lower Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center
