Connected products enabled by Toppan’s expertise in security and packaging

Tokyo –September 26, 2019 – Toppan Printing (Toppan) (TSE:7911), a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, will showcase its latest applications of smart technologies as part of the digital transformation in packaging at LUXE PACK MONACO, the premier show for creative packaging, from September 30 to October 2 at the Grimaldi Forum.

Participating in LUXE PACK for the first time, Toppan will demonstrate how product packages can become devices linking to customers at every point of their journey. This is achieved by integrating an NFC tag into every product to give it a digital identity and connect it to the Internet; enabling a range of dynamic and expansive digital services for brands and their consumers. These include authentication for product verification and protection against refill and tampering, traceability for real-time supply chain visibility and prevention of gray market distribution, and consumer engagement for direct channels to consumers, real-time feedback, and optimal digital marketing.
 

Among other cutting-edge solutions, Toppan will be displaying the recently announced InTact, (https://www.toppan.com/en/news/2019/newsrelease190924e.html), an NFC tag-enabled anti-counterfeiting solution for wine and spirits. InTact features a Toppan NFC tag integrated into a capsule from Amcor Capsules to provide cork protection, authentication, and opening detection. This creates a high-security closing solution to help prevent fraudulent refilling and gray market diversion, a growing problem in the wine and spirits industry.

In addition to its range of connected devices to protect brands and engage with consumers, Toppan will also present the Secure ID Platform for providing brands with a cloud-based turnkey solution to digitize physical products and allow brands to engage directly with consumers via the tap of a smartphone. A Toppan expert will address Digital Transformation in Packaging as part of the TURBO TALKS held at 11 a.m. on all three days of the show.
