Tokyo – March 23, 2021 – Toppan Printing (Toppan) (TYO: 7911), a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, has been included in the FY2020 Nadeshiko Brands, an index selected by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange that recognizes companies’ efforts to encourage women’s success in the workplace.

The Nadeshiko Brand initiative, launched in fiscal 2012, aims to drive investment in companies and accelerate diversity-related activities in the business world by introducing listed companies demonstrating outstanding performance in the area of gender equality to investors focused on medium-to-long-term value enhancement. Toppan is one of 45 companies selected for inclusion this year from listed entities in Japan. In recognition of efforts to advance the role of women, Toppan has also received level two “Eruboshi” certification, granted by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in accordance with Japan’s Act on Promotion of Female Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.

Toppan aims to evolve as a company that creates value for society. It endeavors to ensure a culture conducive to job satisfaction and advances diversity and inclusion efforts to enable diverse personnel to fulfill their potential. The TOPPAN SDGs STATEMENT published in 2019 presents Toppan’s basic approach to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and includes quantitative targets to eliminate gender disparity in management roles by 2030 as part of strengthened gender equality initiatives.

Toppan’s Diversity & Inclusion Promotion Office leads efforts supporting employees in fulfilling both their work and childcare responsibilities. Programs are designed to ensure a smooth return to work after parental leave, create networks of employees bringing up children, and promote understanding throughout the workplace of how people balance their jobs and families.

“We are very pleased that our activities focused on diversity and inclusion continue to be recognized,” said Shinichi Ohkubo, Toppan’s Executive Vice President and head of Personnel & Labor Relations. “Based on our philosophy of shaping a society that enables fulfillment for all its participants, we will further bolster efforts to foster an environment in which everyone can flourish.”
