Manufacturing process of Color Filter
Color filter process is one of the display panel fabrication processes.

Manufacturing process of Color Filter
Color filters can be produced by a number of methods; photolithography is a typical method. In photolithography, color filters are produced by exposing a glass substrate coated with a photosensitive color resist through the photomask. The resist is hardened to form the RGB pattern for LCDs.
1. Black matrix formation (low reflectance chrome or resin)
-
-
A black matrix is formed first in order to prevent any leakage of backlight and the RGB color mixture.
2. Color resist coating
-
-
Color resist is coated on the entire glass substrate surface.
3. Exposure
-
-
To make the pattern insoluble, it is UV cured by exposure through the photomask.
4. Development & baking
-
-
After the removal of unnecessary portions of the color resist by the developing solution, the pattern is cured through baking.
★Repeat of 2 to 4
-
-
The above processes from 2 to 4 are repeated three times (for RGB).
5. Indium Tin Oxide layer formation
-
-
ITO layer (transparent conductive layer) is formed by the spattering method.
6. Photo spacer (PS) formation
-
-
Photo spacer is formed to control the cell gap between two glasses (color filter and TFT array) more completely to obtain improved image quality.
